One-Click Update with New Core!!!!

In an effort to keep our team ahead of the game, I just whipped out version 2.2 which includes the nifty new Core.

Get it here.

No longer will we fret over which version and what flags to use. This is the end all, be all, FAH One-Click Install with more Juice than Minute Maid and more Fructose than Corn Syrup.

Directions for the latest FAH One-Click.

1. Download the One-Click zip file.

2. Unzip the file to a floppy or to a directory (folder) on the desktop.

3. Edit the client.cfg with notepad and change the text "Wedo" to your folding username. Only use notepad to edit the client.cfg as WordPad, Word, or any other word processing program will mess up your config file!

4. Click the .exe file.

Poof, you're folding like a glass roofed building in Russia.

Never again will we talk of "which flags" or "what version should I use if" as now we are one with the One-Click, one with our team, and I am one with my

Ummm....will it start the work unit I am working on over again? This is completely updated, so I should install this on all of my systems? What if already installed an older version of your one click, how do I go about uninstalling it? Just delete the folder and the service?

To "upgrade" the One-Click, I would:

1. Start/Run/Services.msc and stop the F@H (or FAH) service.
2. Delete everything in you FAH directory (usually in C:/Program Files/FAH) except the client.cfg. Move that file to your desktop.
2. Download the new version and unzip but delete the client.cfg that comes with it.
3. Install the new version and move your client.cfg into the FAH directory.
4. Check to see if the service is running, you might have to restart it or reboot to get it up to speed.

Stop making new ones! I still have some borgs with the old 3.25 because you kept changing the one-click to a "better more improved" one. Is this it, can I update all the borgs now?

Stop making new ones? Heh! As stanford makes changes (AMD must use forceSSE to get sse instead of forceasm etc etc) so must the Wedo-meister. I think this latest one will be the one around for a while as all CPU's can be running SSE again without fear of the machine horking. I have 85 machines to deal with, don't tell me how much work it is changing things on all your boxen

With this new core I *had* to make a version as borging is now that much easier. Doesn't matter if it's a P4 or an AMD anymore and concern about the occassional AMD lock up is gone.

AMD's are mucho faster with the new core and -forceSSE flag, so it had to be done.

I have only a 1/4 of what you have Nik, I can only imagine the trouble you go through keeping them all up and folding.

Is it safe to assume a Dually new cored One-Click is on the way?

Man that works great Wedo! I just used it and the service started immediately for me, no need to reboot. The config file stayed just as I edited it. If anyone has problems with this install it MUST be user error.

OK, I just installed the one-click, now my EM-III doesn't appear to be working correctly. Also, how can I view the Log File?

The folding client upgrades to the new core automatically..... There's no need to force it.

No it doesnt... If you delete the core, it will download the new one. However, that change took place after Wedo made this one click version, the 1.56 Core was still in beta.

Hey everyone!! Sorry about the abscence

Life has just been that busy of late. Unfortunately, it looks like a lost a portion of my borg. Doesn't sound like I'm gonna get those back either. Guess I'll have to start really looking for new borg....

In the meantime can someone bring me up to date? What's this I hear about no more SSE problems?

With the new 1.56 core for Gromacs there are no more issues with AMD crashing while running SSE! See this thread: http://www.ocforums.com/vb/vb/showth...hreadid=270233

Well, it's about time!

Nik, I have another question.

1). I now have a few P4's that support hyperthreading. They all run win 2k pro. Will enabling HT and setting up 2 instances increase their production?
