Folding helps what?

What is folding@home really doing? Is it actually doing scientific calculations that have never be done before so my computer could be making ground breaking progress? Or is it breaking known protiens down so that they can use them to make video's out of our data to teach students with?

Yep, yes we do often fold the same protien many times. This is to make sure that the data ia accurate.
