Dead NB fan

My NB fan on my MSI K7d Master has died. Well, is about to. It's starting and stopping, making loud noises (i can hear it over the two vantec stealth 120mm's). As i understand, i dont really need water cooling on this device (and if i did, i would wait a run it in parallel with my gpu) and i dont really want another annoying loud 40mm, or 30, or whatever it is.

Can anyone recommend an affordable passive cooling solution for my northbridge?

Thanks,
David

You would have gotten a quick answer if you posted in the SMP forum, but here is your answer:

Here is my recent post on building my own dually. Towards the end of the first page I added a few images with the passive NB cooler that I am using:

which is the Zalman ZM-NB47J

Well, since your board came with a fan it probally has the mounting holes to put a chrome orb on. That would be a much prefered solution to me over using thermaltape/adhesive to put a HS on it.

Get a chrome orb if it will fit in the mounting holes assuming you have them...
