Can i play window os games on linux ?

Lets say i had gentoo installed and not windows

Could i emulate my windows platform games / windows applications?

If so would they run slower than just running it in WINDOWS os itself?

Thanks

Zoltan

Some games, yes. And they will not necessarily be any slower than running them on Windows. Sometimes they are faster.

Installing 3d drivers for your video card can be difficult.
Getting many games to run in wine or winex can also be difficult/frustrating.

Arkaine pretty much summed it up . You can use WINE and WINEX to run many, but not all windows games. There are some games that will run natively without help like quake3 and UT2k4/2k3.

I wouldn't recommend trying to play any 3d game in vmware. Pretty much anything beyond minesweeper and solitaire won't work. It only supports a generic 2d vga card. I like vmware though because you can poke and prod at it from your linuxmachine without even having a network setup
