Ocing a 2600+ Still

Well, I acheived in overclockng my Thoroughbred Athlon XP 2600+ to 2.312GHz, with a Vcore of 1.8, and all other volts stock. The specs are 171*13.5. It is prime stable, sys 27 cpu 37 idle, load sys 27/cpu 44.5. Buying new memory is out of the question, because this rig will be sold once I build my new one by the end of the summer, so there is no point of spending money on new ram. Is there anything else I can do to squeeze out maybe a little more mhz?

you can always raise the voltage to the ram and chipset to get a faster fsb, and to the cpu for more speed. It depends how worried you are about killing your comp.

the only thing I am worried about is kill the mobo. Cpu is not really an issue. How high should the ram and chipset be. I was told no more than 3.0V on my cheap kingston value ram, but what about the chipset. By the way nice avatar. Gotta love family guy

Volt mods are not a good idea if you value the life of your mobo, so they are deffinatly out.

If you arn't worried about killing the ram (which is hard to do without a voltmod anyway) you can raise it's voltage. You can do the same for your chipset.

If you feel that your ram and chipset are maxed out, you can always try raising the multiplier.

You might want to consider putting some heatsinks on the MOSFET's (little square black things by the donuts with the wire around them(inductors), usually right by cpu soccet)

They tend to get more than a little hot, and cooling them will give you more stable voltages and help protect the motherboard.

what's up with all these "bump" posts?

anyway...i also got 2.3ghz with a couple of MP 2600's and 1.82volts...

you could always sell those on ebay for about the same price as a new mobile 2400/2600 from newegg...those chips (i have a couple) can easily do 2.4ghz with 1.7-1.8v...sometimes more

Kill the motherboard? My epox 8rda+ and 1700+ ran for a year at 215x10.5=2365mhz. Right now I have a DFI Infinity running a 2600-M at 240x10.5=2520mhz. I run the chipset at the stock voltage, the cpu at 1.75v and the ram at 3.1v. All seems well for now. Right now my idle cpu temp is 39C.
