Little article on Dothan based chip for mainstream desktops:

What do you guys think?

Is it legit?

Will it really take till 2k7 or do you think they will rush to get it out sooner?

It does seem like Intel is headed this way with the Pentium M architecture. Here is a newspost on xbit that I found on the subject:

It seems like a good idea to back away from this power-ineffecient Prescott design IMO.

Wow, nice find.

Imagine a dully with 2 multi-cored CPUs w/ HT.

Having a box that can handle upto 8 threads at once would be insane.

I hope we see some of this stuff for the desktop in 2k5. I can't wait till 2k6 or 2k7.

Yeah, I think there's a lot of promise in this architecture. However, many things can still sour the deal later down the road. Maybe Intel will charge too much for each chip, making dual/multi core systems unattractive. Or maybe the clock speeds will remain too low, resulting in too little single-app (heavy game) power to be interesting. Intel may also magically fix Prescott's heat problem... again making the NetBurst core interesting.
