I already had P2 2.4A 533FBS OCed to 3.0 on my Albatron mainboard and thinking about getting another one. I see an Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz 533MHz 478pin 1MB Prescott CPU and now I'm confused with 3 2.4 CPUs,

. 2.4A 533fbs Prescott 1MB L2 CACHE ! (really?)
. 2.4A 533fbs Norwood (the one I have @ 3.0G)
. 2.4C 533 800 MHz

Which one is better? or could you suggest another better one?

Thanks.

The prescott one overclocks much better, but if you get a good setting on northwood, the northwood 800 is great too. Just dont use the northwood 533.

2.4 533 nw is a 2.4B

2.4C is the best 2.4 It has HT, none of the other 2.4s do.

Id get that, or a 3.0C.

Also double check first if your current motherboard in your sig support the 800 bus cpu. I'm not sure if the 845pe chipset supported that cpu, correct me anyone if I'm wrong. Unless you already have another motherboard to go with it then 2.4C is your best choice.

Thanks all for your prompt input.

So you don't think the 2.4B w/ 1MB cache is good huh. So much temptation with the 1 MB cache. Plus, the price I saw is so good:

2.4A_1MBX Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz 533MHz 478pin 1MB Prescott CPU Retail $128.75

My current Albatron is really suck IMHO. At first I thought its spec is good but It doesn't allow me to change any of DDR or AGP setting and it will crash, even that I can clock that 2.4b to 3.0G.

I'm thinking about getting another board that can support the 800fbs. Any board out there with good qual 6ch audio?

MSI has a board that supports 800FSB.... wait, that's mine :D unfortunately mine doesn't have 6 channel but that was easily fixed with a sound card. It's a great board for oc'ing, b/c you can change almost everything.

If i were you get the 2.4c with ht and then get the asus p4c800-3 deluxe. This combo has been a champ to me. I have build 3 computers with the setup and have gotten it up to 3.5.

2.4B has 512k Cache and is a .13m NW Core.

You keep confusing everything.

Look at an IS7 for a cheap MB.

Sorry didnt know price was ans issue the is7 is good ive heard but i have never had expierience with it. If you can gather up the extra money the p4c800 is worth it in my opinion
