dell dimension 8250 changing cases

dell dimension 8250 changing cases


well i got a dell dimension 8250 and i got a new case everyfits well and its all set up except the front panel power

the dell mobo uses ribbon conecter wen this case uses the standard atx molex type conecters

is there a way to mod this or a conecter
i really hate my current case and dell and im planning on upgrading to a new mobo ram and psu but i need to wait untill i hav the money

any help will be apreciated

Someone wanted to do something similar here. If you want to do some stuff with your dell, including a new motherboard, you will need at least a new motherboard, and PSU. Those are what you need becuase Dell motherboards and PSU's are intended for their cases, so only Dell fits with Dell I have to go right now...

The pin configuration on the dell psus of that era are proprietary. DO NOT try to plug it into a regular motherboard. or a dell mobo into a normal ATX spec power supply. It'll fit, but it'll kill your board. or maybe the psu. either keep the pair together or replace them both.

The last Dell to use a proprietary powersupply pin assignment(except the new XPS) was the 8100. You can use a standard powersupply on the 8200 and up motherboards. To use a standard heatsink you have to install a standard Intel P4 heatsink retention setup.
