I have the somewhat dubious honour of being the crazyman who built the GTRPC. Contrary to what you suggest, this is an ATX board: Abit KT7A-RAID, all crammed into a 1/8th scale car.

There are additional details as to what's in it on the original post here:

Original HardForum post

The soundcard is mounted with a PCI riser card, to keep it out of the way of the bonnet. And you're right, it was a bloody expensive thing to put together.

For the supercurious among you, I'm putting up a website with the details of how it was built. Stay tuned.

BlueSmurf.

Been done I'm afraid. At one of the last CPL events I think.

A novel idea, but at the end of the day, still a square box with a PC in it.

Maybe put the components inside the TV shell, remove the tube and replace the glass with lexan/plexi. heh could be fun

Bin done already, too, CeBit Hannover 1998, I think... a bunch of hungarian data rescuers...

But I wonder what I can do with that old aquarium - my sister and the guppies surely wouldn't notice my Chaintech 7AJA-2 between the sunken miniature galleon, pebbles and seaweed, would they?
(no need for fishy screensavers anymore, hehe - and just think about the water cooling FX...)

Honestly, I think that Smurf and his Nissan have deserved a whole page, if not even a small chapter in case modder's history.

Phew.

How about a real Book PC?

You see all those book computers that are just super tiny, but what about hollowing out a big ol' dictionary and putting a computer in there? I know I have a big dictionary that could fit MicroATX or FlexATX boards, and it would take some cramming, but I bet it could be done. Then you could set the dictionary on your bookshelf, hook up your monitor to the book, and go to work. That might be pretty cool....BlueSmurf, go to work man!

House: This is the only way! Sometimes solutions are NP complete and there's nothing anyone can do about it! Foreman, sneak into the physics department and reroute their servers to ours, we need the extra processors if we don't want this equation to go quadratic on us. Chase, patch the memory leak and install Matlab 9.3.
Chase: Shouldn't we be using Mathematica for potentially asymptotic functions?
House: When I want your opinion, I'll do an affine transformation to get it. I'm off to see Cuddy. Those parabolic eigenvalues of hers must be good for something.

I know a company that produces probably the tiniest book computers I have ever seen. Maybe it can be taken apart and inserted into an actual book? Some pages can be cut out for increased airfolw.
