Actual best KIT ??? NooB question here

Hi, all. Glad to join your community...

So my question is simple.
What is the best watercooling kit for now, in:
- performance
- performance/price.

I'm looking for a good one cause I'm living in a country where 30° outside is a common temperature. And I am bired of all my fan (too noisy). Moreover my pc are on 24/24 7/7 (when it don't crash lol)...

So pls, waiting pro comments.

Thx you..

best would be homemade kit, a lot cheaper and a lot better, next best kit would be the dtek kit with whitewater.

mag 3 pump $40 (petsmart.com) (theres a %15 off coupon, but to get it you'll also have to buy 2 tubes of silicone sealant, if you want more info, ask me)
'85 chevette heatercore $30 (from local autoparts store)
Whitewater cpu block w/ aluminum top and 1/2" fittings $65 (dtek customs)
7' tygon $21 (dtek customs) less if you want, i used less than 4', and you could go with clearflex for less
shroud $10 (dtek customs)
any 120mm fan
$10 for fittings youll need for pump and t-line

$186 + s/h

edit: do you really live in new caledonia? cause i bet shipping would suck.

I like the idea to make mine, moreover it's less expensive with zip 22 config.
Yeah i'm living in New Caledonia for real mate...

For the ship, I can ship it to friend to US and they can forward it to my mail here so is ok....

But as I told you I'm a noob. SO is it easy to make mine as you are saying. Any tuts or guide or step by step...
Or could you help me...?

Thx...

it's fairly simple really, you just kinda connect it all with tubing, I'ms ure you can figure out what goes where as far as the cpu block and such, fill it up, and you're rockin.

If you don't go the homemade route you can find some nice kits at CritiCool.com Little over $200 with the blocks. Includes a pump relay card.

85' chevrolet chevette heatercore is used in cars, i think to heat up air (im probably wrong). but it turns out they are a good size, made of all copper, cheap, and as effective as some much more pricey radiators made for computers. if you have a friend in the us, he can probably call up his local autoparts store and get one for less than $30. the fin area on them is about 6" x 6" so the shroud i mentioned is used to keep the fan a slight distance away (improves the performance), and to account for the larger area.

heres my setup (have made some changes since then, though). it has all the parts i mentioned

EDIT: also check out the pump deals at 2 online retailers on this thread:

I second that, and if you want a second choice I would suggest the Swiftech kit especially since the new MCW6000 will be included in it.

Thx for the reply.
Ok now let's make a vs or + and - of each methods (the one of zip22) and the kit (swiftech or dtek).
Really want to know what are good / bad for each.
Thx mate...

the mag 3 pump is here (i couldnt find it at drfostersmith either)

http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...=1082550925595

and then to make your order over $50, you need to buy something else. i suggest 2 tubes of silicone sealant here

http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...=1082551010556

when you have added those 3 things to your cart, you will automatically get the 15% off and the total comes to $43.32

the t-fitting that you asked about is indeed to trap the air bubbles.

btw: i got your im's, thats a good way to get ahold of me, sorry i couldnt get back to you. my day today is gonna be kinda busy. the other good way to leave me messages is though pm's(private messages through the forum)

dtek kit
+the eheim 1250 pump is typically regarded as better quality
+you get everything in 1 package (could be less shipping)
+the radiator that comes with the kit(JR-120) is really the same as the chevette heatercore, but it is painted, and instead of the copper tubes coming off(like in my pic), they replace them with barbs, which makes attatching tubes easier

-cost

my configuration
+cost
+tygon tubing is generally thought of as higher quality, but if you decide to use clearflex (which according to some people is just as good) then it makes it even cheaper
+mag 3 has slightly better performance numbers

-the stock chevette tubes (in pic) can be hard to stretch the tubing over. this was physically the hardest part of putting together my system, but it only took 15 min. it is a challenge, but isnt that bad
-everything has separate shipping costs
-with the mag 3 pump, you have to buy barbed fittings. you might also have to seal the front of the pump to the body (but thats a second reason why i suggested buying the silicone sealant with the pump)

swiftech

there are a bunch of different swiftech kits, but all are more expensive. the swiftech pump is very nice, and the waterblocks are too. but in general, the whitewater is the best performing comercial block available. also, depending on the kit, the included rad might not perform as well. the swiftech kits are nice, but if you decide to go with a kit, i think the dtek one would be a better choice.

might be cheaper to get a mag3 here $36+shipping.
