fast help with a weird cd/rw


How r yas?

Ever heard of a cd drive that wont stay closed?? Im buildin a new computer and it has a new sony cd/rw drive. At first it wouldnt open at all but now if you close it it will open by itself straight away!
Whats goin on there?

Well it sounds like the tray isn't able to close all the way. It kind of like garage doors. When it hits something it will go the opposite direction. It it closing all the way? Also try booting up and going into BIOS settings. Then try opening and closing the drive. That can rule out that it's caused by software.

I just meant to go into the BIOS settings so you won't boot up to windows. Then you can be sure some software isn't trying to open the tray.

I dont think its a software problem, i loaded an old drive in to replace the new one and it works perfect. So it must be a faulty drive then?
I will check it again in the bios just to be sure. I will let ya know how it goes

Got it sorted, gave it a few kicks and threw it against a few walls........ Perfect!
Naaa i didnt really, just poked at it for a while and now its perfect.
