Im workin with a limited budget, and was thinkin of makin a a64 system, usin the K8V deluxe board, and a 3200 chip. My question is, how big of a performace gap is there between a 3200 xp and a a643200. I will be doin this manly for a gaming machine. So is the extra 100$ or so for the 64 bit chip worth it? Any info is appreciated :)

p.s. I also heard i could just get a a64 3000 and oc it easily to 3200+ speeds. Is this tru? if so i could save at least 50$.

the performance between them are large
ex: 2500mhz barton=3000+ a64
2800-2900 barton=3200+ a 64
-sure the a 64 is better than barton 3200+.
-yes u should get an 64 3000 and overclock it to 3200 speed this easy
but the probleme is not only on the cpu for the money, the memory also u should get good ram
here is my opinion if u want update u have currently a good cpu and u can oc it to 2400mhz easly
i will wait nforce 3 to be relialised first (for the mobo)
if u ant extra game performance just get a new video card, and add some ram
3200+barton = 2900~3000mhz p4c
3200+barton @2400=3100~3300 p4c (depand an fsb)
u really dont need any more speed just add more ram and get better video card
here is my opnion
and u have the last choise :)

whats so good about having a 1mb l2 cache over the 512. Performance wise and stuff ^^
