wierd stall, in opening my computer

it only happens when i open the my computer icon in xp pro, it seems to lag to hell, and even task manager says it isnt responding, i waity like 30 seconds and bam it comes up. any clues?

Got any pen drives connected to it? How many hard drives and cd roms do you have?

ah, i do have a usb flashcard connected, maybe thgats it, i have 3 hd's 2 cdrom/cdrw and a few virtual cdroms..

Take off the flashcard, and see if it comes up any faster. This bugged the heck out of my in win98.

also remove any cd's you may have in any cd/cd-rw drive, as windows needs to pre-fetch/load the contents of the removable media, which will slow your boot times.

totally unnpluged the cdrom drives, all thats in is the virtual ones and hds cant seem to get my usb flash card drive back though..

hmm , nm, as soon as i plugged the usb flash card reader in, it loads fine,,, seems to do it now after unpluging it.. ugh
