Well, thought I would give a little update on something you guys seemed really interested in a few months ago. I am going to be starting my next jet project with documentation, which will be located at
http://www.garagejet.com This will be the second home built jet engine.
Some things will be different with this one.
Much larger Turbo Charger core, the turbo I will be using is from a detroit Caterpiller diesiel. With an inducer of 5.25" and an exducer of 7" weighing in at 60lbs. The engine will burn LPG as primary fuel. Some additions to this engine will include;
Full variable Afterburner using Kerosense
Complete instrument cluster
Application for an ATV frame
With specs from the turbo and plugging them into an AR ratio, this new home built jet engine will have the following specs
Weight - 120lbs (fueled)
Thrust - (with out afterburner) 1100lbs
Thrust - (with afterburner at 80%) 1900 lbs
Fuel consumption - with 90% afterburner - 6 Gallons per minute
Max Engine RPM - (90% throttle) 86,000
Min Engine RPM (idle) 40,000
Max EGT (exhaust gas temp) - 800 degrees F
Will be a fun one to build

Once engine is complete it will be mounted on an ATV frame, moved purely by thrust.
