I kind of threw this on the bottom of someone else's thread and I dont think anyone saw it. If people did, I appologize for posting it again. I was just looking for a bit more explaination.

By crazythunder:
if you're going to spend 200 something dollars, you might as well get a cheap soundblaster, an apache digitlink and a dolby digital receiver. http://www.opticompo.com/audio/index.html http://www.apache-micro.com/english.../07_adl-201.htm if you have an existing soundblaster, you can output to your receiver with the optical out of the digitlink. will blow away ANY pc speakers you'll find.

By me, rassler:
Could you explain a bit. What would be required in total? If you can provide me with great sound, compared to PC speaker set-up for under $200 I am very interested and would really appreciate some more info!

Well, what crazythunder suggests is nice, he forgot the cost of the speakers (to go with the digital receiver) :p

But in addition to either one of those combos X68Dude, I would still need a sound card as well as a device to go from the sound card to reciever because they are not directly compatible, are they?

Excuse me assler but how am I supposed to answer that question unless I know what kind of audio interface you have now? Guess?
Ok.
I am guessing all you need is a $4 DIY Coax cable. ;)
