440bx chipset question?

I can't get my friends asus P2b-f or his abit BM6 motherboards to see the firewire card I plug into them. I know the card is good because it works in my computer no problem. Is there a limitation with the 440bx chipset where it can't use firewire cards?

What PCI slot did you put it in?
if it is a 6th PCI slot, it will only work with card that do not need an IRQ or can act as a slave to another card.

SO, tried nother PCI slot yet?
