That is a rather hefty price for a PSU, but it looks like it would be rather good.

If they did those in a higher CFM they'd be perfect. They are quiet enough as it is and a 25 to 30dba version with higher CFM would hardly burst your eardrums, would it? Very nice fans and perfect if your more concerned with running a quiet system over performance.
I may actually get a couple of those 92mm for my side panels.

hmm
It looks like that:
1. Powerful fans are hard to make silent, it's suggested to get rather quiet ones if you want to have quiet computer
2. Fan Controller - you need 2 connectors - one for fan, second for power in (may be molex or to mobo), 10k rheostat, NPN transistor that can hold at least 12v, 1A (for more fans, it's bvetter to have like 2A). Sodler whole thing
Total cost of parts for controller should be <40 cents

you should be hooking me up with the plans for one of those home made rheostats
I would stay away from those silentX fans lik the plague for anything but a stock system.... 20 cfm... unless you have a very clean flow of air through your case, that is ust isnt enough to remove heat from an overclocked rig. any kind of grill or obstuction will make that into a 10 cfm fan real quick. I always advocate flexability though. high powered fans on a controller. its the only way to go for an overclocker.

First off you could NOT get a tornado and a fan controller for those prices. I think you are all forgetting that this Canadian money here. For instace the 80mm fan was 14 something right? In american thats maybe 8 bucks. And for a damn silent 80mm fan like that, you wouldnt find a price like that at most places. Plus the fan controller, and a tornado! There is no way you could pick up those 2 things for the price of one of the silentX. I think you need to remember that not everything is priced in american currency :P

Words of wisdom from a silent PC freak...

1) The SilenX PSUs are astonishingly quiet and every review I've seen / person who's got one comments on how monumentally rock solid the rails are. After all, while the low cfm PSU fan may not help the airflow out, it's not a prob for a good PSU - they're designed to run hot! I will be getting one once the money is there. OK or maybe Xmas...
2) While many aspersions have been cast on the SilenX fans , they do in fact do 'what it says on the tin' ... EXCEPT the dBa values that they give for the thermistor controlled fans are not exactly real life. For instance the 80mm 14dBa is 14dBa at the rated 2200rpm. *TRUE* However, the thermistor rapidly takes the fan through 2200rpm to 2700 rpm and above at really quite low temps - my CPU is logged at 40 at the mo, and the HSF is at 2450 rpm (according to MBM) They're still not noisy in any shape or form, but rather than silent you now have an air current whoosh. No bearing noise or whine, just whoosh.
3) Sturm - check out www.soadvanced.com. That's the local UK supplier. They've only recently got the franchise but I've ordered through them and they're fine.

And finally... (and this is not meant to invite flames OK? ) let's face it, for those of us in temperate climes where the ambient is rarely above 22C, you don't need screamers in the usual run of things. Sure you'll squeeze out another 5% of performance with a screamer and it's fun to wring out the last drop of oomph from the CPU, but then you'll never notice the extra power in real applications.

Quiet PCs rock! (very, very softly...)

Kustom PC's stock some SilenX fans now too: -

Out of stock already though , so probably easier to get them through soadvaned if they've got stock.

I beg to differ. Firstly the cheapest fan costs $15 CND w/o shipping. Secondly, $15 CND is about $11 bucks here in the States. I can pick up an 80mm tornado for $10 and bits for the controller for about $.50. So for $11 I can have a fan that's quite with crappy CFMs or for 50 cents less I can have a good fan that I can make quite when I need it to be.

Stan03 - as mentioned above, the PSUs are seriously quiet, and the universal comment about them is that they are absolutely rock solid no matter what you do to them. For the fans - check the sig - like them lots.

although these fans have a phenomenal cfm:sound ratio, it doesn't mean they will preform equal to another fan with similar cfm. When i inquired about these fans for, say, cooling my radiator which, IMO, is as dense as a highpreformance heatsink, silenx's said that their fans would probably not provide the enough pressure to move an adequate amount of air through something that dense. Although these fans would make great case fans (with little to no grills), they wouldn't be effective on heatsinks, expectually if u want to overclock.
The psu on the other hand is a great buy, but u can always spend a little big more and get a zerofan psu so u wont' have to worry about cleaning the dust.
