Raising FSB vs raising cpu multi...

I just want to get this straight.

Is the main reason why people prefer raising the FSB instead of the cpu multiplier (on unlocked cpu's such as AMD mobiles) is to get more overall system performance and not just a faster CPU?

I want my cpu to run as fast as possible, but if my RAM cant run at anything faster than 200fsb raising the cpu multiplier should essentially make the cpu run just as fast as having a high fsb and a low multiplier, right?

Higher FSB means better overall system peformance. RAM (if you are running 1:1 ratio) and the cache on processor would run faster than just raising the multiplier alone. That's why a 2.4C p4 @ 3.0 would run faster than a stock 3.0C processor.

in a ideal situation, you want to run at the fastest stable fsb with your ram in sync, and then use multis to find your cpus limit. when you run your fsb high, you will get much better memory bandwidth among other things, as opposed to just raising multies to get faster cpu performance
