It's an Excel spreadsheet, and uses the Solver add-in, which comes with Excel, but may not be active or installed.

It is based on the benchmarks done by Tom's Hardware. Most of the cpus on the benchmark has been keyed in along with US and Canadian price. Also included are prices for ram, mobo, hdd and case.

You set the target # of WU per month, and it will find the lowest cost configuration of PCs to do it. It optimizes for the lowest cost per WU.

Instructions are included.

Someone requested that I put in an estimate for electricty costs / year, so that is in there too.

Let me know what you think !

the US prices were taken from newegg. The canadian prices were from canadiancomputers.ca

i think its broken... it says i need 150 p4 3.2e's for 1000 wu a day

i guess it dosent lie *goes off to buy 150 p4's*

i think it had an extera divide by 3 in there somewhere.
