Question how to setup SETIDriver to run only when rig is idle??

i just installed and set up the CLI w/ SETI driver & SETISpy work together on my main computer. and it works fine. lower my WU time by a little more than an hour! it could finish a WU under 5hr now!! hehehee.....

however, i'm planning to do the same on my other rigs. but those rig i would like it runs only when the computer is idling!! more like the old GUI sreensaver timer. how can i do that via SETIdriver?? or other method??

tks in advance!!

just a little of ur computer time would help our team !!!

Seti@Home only uses available CPU. It really doesn't need to operate at Idle as it is operating in the background. Set the priority to low, and it will not interfere with anything else that is running. I have it running on my 2 main work PC's and never had a problem.

I've never had any problems while gaming, and I don't know of anyone that has, when seti is at a low priority.

Agreed. I can run Photoshop, PowerPoint, Excel, IE5.5, and Thumbs+ cataloging 1000's of jpg's - all running with Seti at the same time. No problems - just make sure the priority is LOW. At NORMAL priority I have had some slow performance.

Not so much setting it to low as opposed to running other processes that take CPU time. Seti takes a low priority whenever anything else runs, only taking available CPU slices. If you are running other processes that are taking, say, 50% of the CPU slices, then Seti only has 50% available. WU times will increase.
In my sig - the first listed machine is my home machine. If I run UT or Quake 3, then my Seti times will go up, sometimes as much as 25% - 30%, but the games run fluidly, with no interference from Seti.

so, i should set all my rigs in low priority setting anyway? my main machine, the fist one below, is set at normal.

so, either normal or low setting actually doesn't really hurt the WU time IF the computer is left idle. and only affect depend on "what" am i doing w/ the computer, rite? like either gaming, or just browsing?

That's about it. When the machines are idle, then Normal is fine, if you are going to have heavy loads on it, then low is the best.

I use Driver @ "normal" while doind all the Team stie work... graphics & excel & even some gaming...

For more LT gaming sessions I run @ "low"... always done well, but does bump up WU times a bit...

Only during SERIOUS lanning do I turn SETI off, but now I do that on my buddy's box anyway...
