What is the difference, which gives best performance?

don't know about performance currently,

but I think that DDR2 and 3 are about more potential than DDR. Currently DDR is about at its limit so to get higher clocked memory we need DDR2 etc. When DDR2 comes, it won't perform that much better than DDR but it will eventually end up clocking higher.

Also as far as I know, GDDR is for graphics card only no?

graphics card memory has been way beyond pc memory in terms of clockspeed for a while, the x800 uses memory that people have oced to ddr1200 I think its standard is like ddr1100 that uses GDDr3 while I don't know what the difference between gddr and ddr is I think as far as graphics cards are conscerned it matters more the clock of the memory than the latencies thus I think ddr2 will overclock more and thus is better than ddr

DDR performs better than DDR2 when at the same clock speeds but im not sure about DDR3 and I get confused when GDDR is mentioned as I've seen it labeled with graphics cards before so I just assumed it was regular DDR

DDR2 and DDR3 are all about using less volts to run and the less volts being used the lower the heat (temperature) meaning you can gain higher clock rates without hitting problems

DDR and DDR2 right now perform the same - but once DDR2 /3 goes higher clock frequency - as needed by cards / computers - then it will perform better

Simply put - DDR2 + can run @ faster speeds.
