Locked out of my account (see thread for details please)

I bought myself a new mobo (MSI 865 PE Neo 2) and a new 160GB SATA drive so i formatted the drive and installed fresh windows xp proffesional on it .. now when i try to access my old drives on which previous windows was running i can't access my documents and settings because they were protected how can i recover those files? is there any way?
