I just replaced the nf7-s in a rig i had built for a friend. We popped the new one in and it would not boot. It would get just past "Verifying dmi pool data" and hang at a black screen until "ntdetect failed" showed up and that's it. The only way it boots is with a moust attatched to the PS2 port. I am baffled. If we remove the PS2 mouse it does the same thing again. I do not understand!

Anyone know what's going on here ?

That's really wierd! I'm using a USB mouse, and never had a problem.
I'd check the bios to see if there's a thingy about PS2 mouse, which I doubt, but it's worth a shot.

LOL, tell me about it. I have had 4 of these boards and never seen this before. I had built this system for my friend about 12 mo's ago. His mobo went out last week and i had him a new nf7-s overnighted. We threw it all together and it posted fine but hung just after "verifying DMI pool data" like i said. I spent the night searching for similar situations and found a thread where a person was having the same problem. someone said in response. "i know this is going to sound silly but try pluggin in a ps-2 mouse". I thought it did indeed sound silly but i tried it anyway, and you know what? It worked!!

freaky. I think i will try flashing his bios. For some reason he doesn't like having his USB mouse plugged into the PS2 port using that cheesy ps2-usb adapter. He needs a diff bios anyway as we all know abit's bios' for this board have their myriad problems. :S.
