trade out my cl geforce2 gts for pny geforce4 mx440?

I picked up one of the pny geforce4 mx440 for 9.99 after rebate from frys.
Is this card faster than my creative labs geforce2 gts I have in my
machine currently or should I take it back and not waste my time or
keep it for my son's machine?

Thanks

for the better part of ten bucks, that's a good deal. i'd keep it for a spare, throw it in a second rig, or the kids.

pop it in yours first though. only takes a few moments. fire up 3dmark01 and see which comes out on top. if you overclock your video, see how far you can ratchet this new card up!

Even though its a dx7 card you would be surprised how good an mx440 can be for the price.

I had one overclocked to 275/550 and I could run 1024x768 with medium settings on most of my games.

I was under the impression that the gf4 mx400 was basically a suped up gf2 at its heart. I would think it would kick your gf2's butt by a noticable margin myself. I'm not 100% on that though.

gf2 gts's and ti's were pretty quick actually. could be overclocked a bunch too. i remember back in the day, gf2ti's beating up on gf3's in some games (after being heavily overclocked of course).

The MX440 is a beefed up mx400, which is still an mx core. The GTS is a higher end card, but like someone else said, best to just try them both out. You can use the same drivers so its pretty easy. I have that exact same PNY MX440, only i bought it two years ago for 99 dollars lol. Been a great backup card. My fx5800 ultra is a little quicker though

I'm hopping this card will tie me over when I build a new machine and wait for
the aiw 9800 to drop in price to a more affordable price.
Gee, I think I paid 220 bucks for my geforce2 when it came out.

Interesting,
my geforce2 gives 6203 for 3dmark1
and the mx440 gives only 5830.

God that's sad...My 5600 was bearly 1000 points more than your GF2 at stock speeds haha. Got a 3000 point increase though after overclocking.
