I wasn't sure if this realy fit in this thread or extreme modding, but i figured i'd try here, and someone will move it if it doesn't belong.

I'm interested in getting a hard drive based mp3 player (20+ gigs), but i don't really like any of the ones out there. I'm curious if theres any kind of, like electronics kit, or something, that gives you the components and lets you put them together to make a player. OR, if someone knows how to mod a nomad muvo (the one that used to have a 4gb compact flash card in it) to use a hard drive, that would work too, as a friend has several of those. from what i understand, those use a mini-ide connection to the flash reader, or is that a misunderstanding of compact flash in ide mode. Well, anyway, either tell me i'm wrong or let me know if you have answers for me, in either case, i look foward to the answers. Thanks in advance.

I've seen schematics for just this somewhere on the net.. So keep looking for it! If my memory serves me right, it used an IC to make interfacing IDE easy and a PIC for controlling it all. Also to interface an LCD panel..
