Fedora Core 2 and 5.1 audio

Has anyone been able to get this working? I bought a cheapo brand 5.1 PCI card for my box, the rear and front channels seem to work, but center/bass doesn't. I tried alsamixer and there's a 3d Audio switch that I can't turn on. Is this something I need to put in my modprobe.conf file? Like "options snd-card-0 something". I'm at work so I'll have to get the specifics later, but it's a CMI-8738/6CH-LX chip and the card is made by AudioExcel. Also it doesn't look like there's anything in that file for ALSA OSS emulation, I've been reading that this might be needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've never dealt with ALSA before.
