Unfortunately, I think that if you get a new motherboard, you will have to consider upgrading other things, such as memory for one as it's really the only other component listed in your signatures. Is your 1700+ recent? Is it a T-Bred B or just a regular XP 1700+?

If it's the older one, similarly to my old 1600+, then it's not likely that it'll overclock as high as you want it to, or at least not like what other members have gotten their T-Bred Bs to..

Anyways, it's just something to keep in mind that overclocking is pretty scattered and you can't go high without a motherboard but then you need things to support that like CPU, memory and cooling.....

The Abit NF7-S v2.0 seems to be a popular choice for motherboards. I had to get a new motherboard recently and got an Abit NF7-S. You can see Abit has the most threads so I think you get a lot of support as well as the board is really good performance wise. Quality wise, I think the only problem I found was with the sound. The onboard soundstorm didn't work out too well for me, it mixed up my 5.1 setup completely and putting in a PCI sound card still left me with some cracking when I play, so I unplugged the center speaker since it was useless anyways.

Just check out the Abit forums to read up on the many threads on the NF7-S:

Lots of people are hitting really high FSBs, like 250+.. that's why I pinpointed your memory as a problem if you plan to go that high.. If you just wanna do some light overclocking, I guess it's fine

You can't clock it very high if you're using PC2100. No point... unless you're going to get new memory as well.
