Maxtor or Western Digital

WD. If you are buying OEM from newegg, the WD will have a 3yr warranty, the Maxtor only has a 1yr.

never used maxtor, but I have never had a wd drive fail on me, and 2 of them are 4 years old.

Western Digital drives are great, just a tab bit more noise, MAYBE. But they have a MUCH better RMA policy and I think a longer warrenty.

My Maxtor makes more noise than my WD as far as I know. But I think they both would be fine, although the WD is the better one at this moment.

id go with western digital... I have 2 raptors and 1 120gb WD drives and they are super.
I've sworn never to buy another Maxtor HD again. I like WD. In the thread below I mention that I've had many Maxtor drives fail on me... meanwhile, I'm loving my second WD drive.
