Server stats

I have decided to create a server from some old parts I have lying around the house. I want to use it as a WC3 and other higher end game server, such as HL2 etc. I didnt really know where to post this but because the memory is my biggest question I asked here. How much memory do I need? If I am using intel, how fast does the proc have to be. and any other links and such to server FAQs or suggestions would be appreciated.

How many people do you want the server to be for? I've run a server off a 2Ghz AMD box with 512MB's of ram. I was hosting a 16 person lan with it and there were no problems at all. Id say an Intel 2.4C + 512-1024MB/s of memory will do just fine
