What do you think about this chip?

OK long story short..I ordered a 3GHz Prescott last week because I thought my 3GHz Northwood was dying. Turns out it was my 3 Year old Enermax EG465P that was dying so I replaced it with a PC Power and Cooloing Turbo Cool 510 Deluxe. Anyways I went to check the status on my chip to see if it was to late to cancel and it was they had already shipped it. I go to thereweb site to check the status of my order and see that they shipped me the wrong chip. They are shipping me this chip instead of the 3GHz Presscot I ordered. New Chip<---------- My question is will this chip be better than my 3GHz Northwood that I am running now? The bus on that new chip is only 533? I realize that I could overclock the hell out of it but still with it overclocked the FSB would only be like 680...

I am going to guess that your talking about a prescott 2.8a or the 3.06nw. Either way both chips will underperform your current offering even if you could get it up to the same or higher speeds. Because the 2.8a lacks HT and the 3.06 has HT but has a really big multi that kills high fsb numbers.

Don't know why I can't link to there site? Anyways it is a 3.06 P4 with 533 FSB. I am getting hosed. I just sent them a long e-mail with lots of words like lawyer and Better Business Bureau in it!! On there site they say this chip is stable at 4.2 GHz. I still think it is inferior...

When you get the processor, send it back and tell them to refund your money for all the trouble they caused you.

the 3.06 is an older cpu... why are they selling you that anyhow?

Just refuse delievery and return to sender. Then make sure they refund your credit card account. Your current 3.0C is much better.
