hi all - i am seeing these everywhere - some with 128mb ddr1, some with 256mb ddr1, and some with 256mb ddrII.

I am interested in getting one of these, my question is, what ram are they putting on the ddr1's, are most of the cores r360's, and does ddrII clock any higher than ddr1 - if so, by how much.

also, what is the status of x300 - and what are the specs? what are the clocks, how many pipes, what pcb, and how much are they expected to fetch?

I am basically mulling selling my 9800pro on ebay in order to get a 9800 with xt pcb if it will net significant gains, but I don't want to be stuck with a 9800 no one wants if x300s are as powerful as 9800's for ~$200

The X300 is the "budget" PCI-E grahpics card from ATI that's meant to be a marginal upgrade from onboard graphics.

The X600 is meant to the the "mainstream" PCI-E graphics card from ATI that's meant to give the consumer graphics that they'll think are great but are nowhere near X800 status (the X300&X600 are based off the 9600).

so what about these 9800 pros on 9800xt pcb?

which is the best memory config? 128mb ddr1, 256mb ddr1, or 256mb ddrII?

If I am going to upgrade from a 9800 pro I want the most gains possible, that means an r360, and the best mem possible on an xt pcb without paying xt prices!

oh yeah - and it does not seem like the x300/x600 will be worth it - four pipes each, and I assume no hope of modding to 8, 12, or 16 pipes.

weird, when I look on newegg, it does not always quantify the xt's as having ddr II. It DOES say that some of the 980op 256mb ones have ddrII . I am not looking at the old ones with 16 ram chips but the xt pcb 256m ones with 8 ram chips. Sometimes marked ddr, sometimes marked ddrII. Same frequencies.
