Modems under Linux


Ok, A problem I have an HSP PcTel MicroModem 56k and i understand that Winmodems are not linux compatable but there are many driver for this modem but i dont understand them, any help?
PcTel HSP MicroModem 56k from eMachine 333id
RedHat Linux 7.1

A year or so back, Winmodems were definitely not compatible with Linux. Now some of them are.

Red Hat makes lots of info available on its Web site. Why not start there?

I would recommend this page for starters. There is also a link on it to information about modems and the link contains a hardware reference guide.
