porn mole on my rig help!!

someone (email or who knows)dropped a mole on my computer every once in a while a porn site pops up on my screen and its ****ing my off. what is the best software to find this and get rid of this mole on my rig???... thnx flapper

You might also wanna check out Spybot Search and Destroy. It has lots of nice features that might help you out.

i agree with this.

i use a few things to keep everything out. norton virus 2004 pro (up to date)
zonealarm pro up to date and on high alert
and Spybot Search and Destroy (newest version and updated)

Spybot Search and Destroy has a way of blocking all things from cookies to emails coming in.

As said above. spybot S&D is very good. I use it to clean my rig once a week. I don't know how I get so much spy crap, but I do. The only places I go are PC hardware review sites. (I know, I need to get out more?) :-/

I suggest you also run PestScan over @ http://www.pestpatrol.com/ (It won't remove anything, but it does tell you where certain files are so you can remove them manually).

I found adware works better then spbot, althought I run both, but Spybot hasn't picked anything up in awhile and adware gets a lot. Plus they seem update it like every other day.

right now, im slowly being eaten alive despite spybot,adaware and checking everything i know. not only am i being misirected to porn sites but, it now has taken control of my homepage and instead overclocker.com it is taking me to some fake search site that tells me im being invaded by spyware(no sh#t) and for 39.95 itll remove it. I am a peaceful person but if i could get my hands on this filthy F**kin
scum i would do bodily harm.. any other ideas.. i hate having to erase my whole hd
but i can take much more of this....

well i finally got rid of it. went into the registry and hacked the hell out of it so far im in control. doing this stuff to people should be a federal offense if it isnt already.. what a headache..

For future reference...

Spybot search and destroy just came out in version 1.3 last month and the latest definitions will find a lot more stuff than the previous one. It should be used in conjunction with adaware and the latest reference file still.

If you have anything nasty, the next step is to use CWShredder, as the CoolWebSearch variants are very well written and a royal pain to destroy.

After that, proper use of hijackthis will alleviate any further problems. It can be hard to use by yourself, but give it a run and post the logfile it creates to let others help you analyze.

This will work on 99% of the crap out there, these are very well done programs and will pretty much cover all of your bases.

thats exactly what i have ,a cws spyware program/ adaware, spyboy and spy doctor wont touch it . ill try cw shredder.. thnx guy when u get mad its hard to think..

yeah its weird. adawre finds it, but cant delete it. i even deleted it in my registry and it comes back everytime.. ok ill try hijack thnx for ur time.. this is so infuriating.
