2600 barton oc

hmm yea well i gave up waiting for a better overclocking mobo and tryed to shoot for 2.2 ghz well it booted said i was in 3200XP speeds and all that good stuff.. btw i went to 11X200 multi and it went to windows and all that
checked my temps they were actually verry close to stock temps.. i went on ventrilo searched some pages .. brought up BFVietnam and it was working away.. went to start a SP game to see if it heated up game Crashed to desktop as soon as i went to click my spawn area.. i was like crap too hot.. so i looked at probe.. nope never went up more than 1*C so hmm ... tried it again same thing 2more tries same thing.. now really wtf could be the reasoning i went back to stock doenst do it so it has to be something to do with the overclock.. is something screwing up within windows or AGP slot or i duno wth lol .. like i said i was gona wait and get a better overclocking mobo than what i got but $ is tighter now than before and decided to just try it out.. kinda ****es me off i can boot into windows and run at like 45*C.. its constantly like 30*C outside now so its hoter than this winter was heheh.. but still i mean the temps are fairly compairable to my regular temps.. nothing like overly high than stock ones maybe 2-3*C more idle .. never even got to see the max at full load cuz it just drops the game CTD and its not like it locks up but just CTD ect .. i wonder if windows just is screwing up from the OC or something?? anyone know wtf could be wrong?? does my mobo just suck that much at overclocking hehe

That sounds like a voltage problem. Does your Mobo allow you to adjust vcore? If not, there are ways to up vcore right on the CPU.

I had to do the same thing. I got the XP unlocking kit and used that to up the vcore. It takes a bit of practice and a steady hand, but it works. Google FAB51 and look at their bridge info on AMD CPU's.

The unlocking kit can be purchased from highspeedpc.com for about $12, and will last quite a long time.

Yes, you need to increase the core voltage. The processor is not stable at the current voltage being used, which you didn't even mention. That motherboard will allow for voltage adjustments. First, go download a copy of Prime 95 from http://www.mersenne.org/freesoft.htm

Run the torture test until you get an error. Then go back into the BIOS and bump the voltage up another .025 at least. Run Prime 95 again and watch the temperatures while it's running. Keep upping the voltage until Prime 95 will run for 8-24 hours. Watch the temperature and make sure it stays reasonable. I wouldn't go over about 1.85v or 60C. I really don't like running over 1.75v - 1.8v permanently.

Overclocking requires taking small steps and verifying system stability. You can't really expect to overclock and go straight into playing games with no worries. Your game crashing is telling you the overclock is not yet stable.

Oh, and it would help alot if you tried using sentences, real words, and paragraphs next time you post. I had no idea what you were talking about in the last half of your post.

Yeah, definitely use Prime to test for stability. Also, up your vcore without too much fear as long as your temps stay below 55°C full load a.k.a running Prime. I have had my vcore up to 1.95 before and the magic blue smoke never poured out of my case, but then again, my temps are pretty good. To reach my max oc though, I only needed about 1.875V, although I usually don't run that now with my house being a lot warmer. My case temps have gone from 28°C to 32°C in just a few days.
BTW, what is you fsb and multiplier right now? At a 180 fsb, I was at 1.725V and at 190 fsb I was a 1.775V so those can be some examples for you. Don't just set it to those values though. Use Prime and test out you cpu, you might be able to get by with a lower voltage.

Yea guy's sry about the typing mumble jumble i have a tendancy to do that.

Um well I pretty much didn't touch my voltages. And with this Mobo ,I dont know if it is the bios on the mobo or what but I only get 3 choices on my FSB and thats your standard 133/166/200. So that is why I had to use my multiplyer at 11 instead of the stock 11.5 to get it at 2.2 . And I did try to run it at 2.3 "i think that is what it is with multi at 11.5 ".

Anyways it did not work at 11.5 multi it would just start up and lock at windows. so i went down to 11.0 X 200= 2.2 and it worked sorta windows worked fine except for the game crashing. and i know you said stability issues and you are 100% right on that im sure.

Vcore and voltage i havent tryed to up them. but i DO think i can do that .
this motherboard doesnt seem to have the Greatest Overclocking Bios ever .
I think its mainly because i can not up the FSB in smaller incriments like by 5 or whatever.

BTW does anyone here Trust ASUS PC-Probe enuf to tell true Temps??
Ive seen ppl on these forums calling it down and what not.

I will try prime 95 this weeked or something. and up my voltages like you said.
this Barton seems to run hoter than most ive seen with the same coolers. so maybe i wont be able to overclock with the summer heat here .

have a good one guys..

yep, higher vcores = more volts to the processor, they are your friend when instability rears its ugly head, but watch your temps, 50c+ is too hot, anything under and your good.

I have the same Raidmax case. Did you do the 120mm fan intake mod? If not, that case needs its.

yup, The front grills are super restrictive. so, I cut out the front grills- then added the 120mm. Although 4 80mm should do just fine.

you think i should cut it away though? im guessing you will say yes lol

even though i would keep the 80mm in there it would probly help if i did mod the back and front.. so that more air can move threw ... but really is 34*Cmobo in 30*C weather that much ?

It does help, I cut away the front of my case( not a Raidmax) to increase airflow, and now all I need to do is cut away the plastic tabs on the bezel on the front and I'll be good. Here's a pic. The metal in behind the 120 is almost entirely removed.

man you guys wernt kiding .. !

my system temps before i moded this case by cutting out the hole drilled mesh..
before
they were

mobo temp 34*C
CPU temp 45-47*C "LATELY"

now mobo temp 18*C
cpu temp 32*C

man i couldnt even get my Mobo temps below 23-24*C in the winter and my cpu temps were always like 35-40 *C in the winter .. thanks for telling me to do that guys.. didnt think it would do all that much .. i guess them cheese grates or what ever were makeing a hell of a air restriction ..

i did the wholes in the back and sanded them smooth, put on 3 layers of Gloss black to match my case Paint job .. looks sweet still waiting for my crome wire grills from ncix.com though

thanks guys .. i dont have to wory so much about the heat now getting the good airflow

my temps on cpu went to 47*C Max load..
but it also was hot in here cuz i forgot my window open all day..
stupid me!
so im at 11.0multi and 200FSB..

do you guys think 11.5multi and 200fsb is posible??

I have a arctic cooling VGA silencer comeing aswell here that will probly cut a couple *C off. Im thinking it would anyways?
btw this was a hell of a hot day today .. and max i got was 47*C after afew hrs of prime95.
also does going to a 11.5multi efect vcore again??
