AAR needs a cpu!

hey guys, we are in need of a cpu here.

A P4 under 2ghz that is 400fsb AND socket 478, i got a motherboard personally donated. that is sitting on my desk. if we dont' find one, AAR2 will be a 800mhz amd that was donated. it would be NICE if this cpu could be donated, but i would also be willing to buy it for AAR

The quickest and easiest way to do this will probably be to get a donation pool going with PayPal. If everyone sent $5, we'd be there in no time. A 1.8 Nothie is $117 shipped on the egg.

Shoot me a PM if you are looking for donations to go towards it. I'm sure I can maybe spare $20, although maybe more after mid July (pay day!).

The AMD will also include the gfd so it will be 950mhz instead of 800. Although at that speed, with no optimizations, it'll still fold pretty slow. Slow folding is better than no folding though

*Edit
Also, if we're passing the collection plate for a p4, I can probably donate some to that too. Either way, just let me know.

AAR1 has been folding happily on a Knoppix CD for about two weeks now. I have it running at 2075 (166x12.5) with just a little voltage bump and it is really stable. Hopefully I can install windows on it this weekend, so I can monitor temps and test stability at higher speeds. Hopefully we can get AAR2 running soon!

Thats great to hear. I am glad we have one rig up...lets get some more going.

Xenocide, whats our running total so far in the collection for a p4? I could probably throw in a little bit.

Right now it is folding for me since I have yet to recieve the 'official' folding name. As soon as the contract gets here, I suppose that will be included.

how about this?

http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=309886

very cheap for a 2.8c with HT. i'd be willing to throw in some money towards this. only thing about this one is that you'd have to buy/get donated a bolt through mobo heatsink instead of a stocker. still after all is paid about 100 bucks for a hell of a folding chip.

There are a couple there for under $100. I don't know if those prices are any good. I haven't bought a p4 in a really long time.

Unfortunately, I don't have a chip I can donate, but I can donate whatever is left in my paypal account after my large shopping spree which hasn't ended. We should have an AAR Paypal account for donations or maybe it could go through the main OCFORUMS Paypal acount, or we could just send donations to one of the AAR staff members?

Never mind I retract what I said. I saw the link is Maxvla's sig and took care of it. I know that donation was kind of cheap but hey there's more to come!
