Hi,
I have an altec lansing 251 speaker set. It came with some connector thing that you can plug the speakers into and the other end into the tv. I was wondering it there was anyway to connect the speakers to both my computer and tv at the same time by using a switch. What do I need to buy at radio shack?

I dont think there is a way to "switch" one on or off.Unless you built a custom switch somehow just for your individual needs.
Not that many people are looking to do what you want to do and I have never seen anything like that at Radio shack.
Im afraid Its connect one or the other.

(1) Y-adapter 6$
(2) male to female 3.5mm 4$
(1) 3.5mm to rca adapter 6$

16$ total. that will let you have stereo sound from your tv driving the speakers and all of the channels from your computer.

You couold also use the "Line IN" on your soundcard to send the TV's audio into your PC. Then, you will have a "Mix" control on yur soundcard's software panel with levels for Line In (TV in this case), and the PC Wave audio. The "Master" will control both. If using the soundcard's Mixer, you should not have latency issues.

Either way will work. I prefer not to use passive splitters ("Y-Cords"), but I am a snob
