I can't find any information that means anything to me, so here goes the question : I just bought an Shuttle Nforce2 mobo with the REALTEK AC97 (not Soundstorm) sound on it. I have a SB LIVE Value Ed in me PCI slot right now. IS this a waste of a slot or is it better than the onboard AC97?????

I haven't noticed any difference between the Live Value I had and the onboard. However, if you are overclocking, you may notice issues if the southbridge is not at least passively cooled.

Sound quality is very subjective. Personally, I think the SB Live is a little better than the AC97.
