Has anyone ever used a relay setup to switch a 120VAC pump when the computer powers up?

It would have to be a 120VAC/12VDC relay but havent been able to find one. Radioshack has a very limited number of relays and most are for large appliances.

Also what kind of amp rating would it have to be? I dont think a pump uses more than .25amps but not very sure, I have a Via Aqua 1300.

What you want is a pump relay kit. there are several on the market. Here's one of them...

You can also get one from our own greenman100

You just have to search the net for "pump relay switch" and you should be able to find the different types and see what you like.

Check the stickies for water cooling suppliers...they will have them.

I’m surprised that RadioShack didn’t have a suitable relay. Last time I checked they had lots of relays that could be used, as the required relay is nothing special. You can check Jameco at www.jameco.com.

i know there are some retail switches but i want to make it my self to fit it into the power supply, i found a good relay at jameco.com. Thanks for the link.
