need help bios says my chip is a 1.7

hi my kh7 board started making a noise like a siren follewed with me shutting it down .Waited 5 mins still black screen and no signal to monitor. It was running at 2.6mhz no probs. Last resort took out battery and managed to get it back on .It as a mod i think wire mod to clock it from 2.26 to 2.6 Question is how do i get it back to 2.6mhz as the bois reports it as a 1.7mhz .I no nothing about overclocking so you will have to dumb it down
