Safe to up pci latency for Audigy 2ZS?

I wanted to increase my pci latency from 32 to increase Audigy 2 stability on my Nforce 2 system, does anyone have any thoughts or a good recommendation. I really don't want to damage my card but I noticed some stuttering in games now while I'm burning with Nero using my gamepad which is connected to the Creative Game Port that came with my Audigy 2.
