Need network firewall

I'm running the following configuration: Cable modem --netbox -- DI-704P router(used as hub) --- 3 computers.

All machines are running on XP pro SP1 and I'm looking for a good firewall. Also I should install it on the netbox right?

I am just curious why you arent using your router as a router? I would do it like this:

modem >> router >> your computers

That way you are behind NAT which basically protects your network like a firewall.

Now the exception to this is if you put linux on your netbox. Then you could use it as a firewall/router with much more functionality than the router would give you.

Ok thanks I taught it might add some securty if I had security 2 level deep. Does it matter if the router drivers/firmware/ are 2 years old(most recent on D-Link site)

No, you should be fine. The protection that the the NAT router provides should be sufficient enough.
