A64 cooling newb question..

Well I have a A64 3200 on it's way with an Asus K8v mb .

Would it be recommended that I use water cooling?
I have w/c on my P4 2.4c and I need to know so I can purchase the w/block for this new mb.

Use whatever cooling you see fit. Depends on what you are trying to do. Are you trying to push the A64 to the max? or are you content with an air overclock?

well better cooling is always better.........*srugg*....lol. its not a must, they dont run deathly hot like prescotts, but it does help to w/c them. you can usually still go along way on air though. just check my sig. thoughs are clawhammers, i feel if they were Newcastles they would be more in the 2600-2700 range

Does the amd hs/f come attached to the dye on the chip?

The AMD HSF does not come attached; you have to put it on yourself. And you can't actually contact the die directly since AMD's packaging the processors with integrated heat spreaders.

Maybe the heat spreaders was what they were refering to on another site..

possible, because the heatsheaders come attached...hence "intagrated" heat speader
