Just a quick thank you.
I normally hang out at 2CPU.com, but come here for overclocking info.
I recently built 2 secondary systems for family members in my house.
Based on info I got here, and hardware reviews, I picked 2 Shuttle AN35N mobos.
Cheap and cheerful as they say.
I had 2 Athlon XP-M 2400s left over from an old dual system I parted out.
Assembled both systems, and was generally pleased with the outcome, but could not get the FSB above 204 on either system.
From what I had heard about the NForce 2 Ultra chipset, I knew they could do better.
One system had PC3200 Viking RAM, and the other had PNY PC3200.
I had assumed initially, that the ram was to blame.
I have always had excellent luck with Crucial, so I ordered 2 X 256 PC3200.
Still had the same result...nothing above 204 FSB.
After doing a lot of research here and other places, I made the following changes:
Pulled the NorthBridge coolers on both boards, removed the double face carpet tape, lapped them to 1000 grit, and applied Arctic Silver.
Pulled the CPUs, and changed the default FSB to 200 MHz by painting the pins on the underside.
Changed the default startup voltage to 1.6 by painting the L11 Bridge.
The results....both systems now 225 FSB X 11.
Very sweet indeed.
Both systems will be water cooled shortly, so I should be able to get 11.5 on the chips.

Welcome to the Forums!

Congratulations!

A fine bit of work!

Keep us posted!

Post up some benchies in the single vs. dual channel thread if you have a chance.

Regards, Balrog
