Need a new site.

Finally went ahead and bought a domain name for my computer buisness i've been running for the better part of 5 years. It's my sole income for the past 2, and will hopefully continue to be until i'm done with college.

That being said i'd like it to look semi-professional, but alas, my HTML skills are pretty basic, and to top it off, i'm a bit of a perfectionist, so anything i make in photoshop for the layout/graphics i end up trashing!

Do you guys suggest using a template? I certainly don't want to hire someone else to design this thing for me, but I'm coming up blank here...

If you just stay simplistic it's hard to mess up... Go for a really clean simplistic look and you should be able to make something usable.... besides, it's all the rage now adays.

Yeah if you can find a decent template for free, I guess its worth it. What will the contents of your site be? Maybe I might be of an assitance to you.

Well to start off something fairly simplistic looking, yet professional and functional. I'd like some sort of "news" area in the middle, where I can post updates on the latest virus or other happenings, and several navigational buttons for access to other pages, which would hold articles/guides, as well as pricing for various machines, a page with a map/location, etc.

The layout would be the same on most pages, the only thing that would change would be the information obviously. i'm reading/experimenting with photoshop even though i should be in bed

Find a web designer locally that you can trade work with Or you can check the template sites. There are also a couple other options like PHPNuke. You could also post over at some of the Inet web development forums to get some help or even put up a little money and have a little contest over www.yaxay.com . Have fun with it
