If i got a A64 3000/3200 (newcastle) and over clocked it upto a 2.4ghz(3800), would there be any difference besides cache size and Temps etc?

cheers Carefull_tooth :attn: :attn: :attn: :attn: :attn:

Hi, Thanks, I know it will be Faster, but would it be as IDENTICAL as one with a stock of 2.4ghz, (Besides from higher Temps and lower cache)

Thanks again

Itll be Identicle yes but the bus speed will be higher. Ex: is the 3400+ Newcastle is 2.4ghz Its runs 200x12. 200x4HTT=800 800x2= 1600mhz Bus speed.

If you overclock a 3000+ to 240x10=2.4ghz It the same in mhz but the bus speed is 240x4HTT=960 960x2=1920mhz bus speed.

See where im going at ? Now the 3400+ Can run the same 240x10 just lower the multiplyer but thats why we buy the 3000's or 3200's cuss its cheaper and you can simply overclock to the higher models or even past the higher models.

Thier is no 3800+ for the S754. The 3800 youre getting is for the Clawhammers 2.4ghz for them is a 3800+

Tho the model numbers are a bit screwy the Newcastle is the better choice for overclocking. But the clawhammers are faster clock per clock
