Question Is this common??

I have been chucking away with my Vantec AeroFlow for some time now. I was getting a fairly decent overclock with it. After a week out of town, I returned to the van on the cooler making a clicking sound. Great! Time to but a new hs/fan.

I figured I would get the "best" out there, so I went with the ThermalRight SP-97 and a Delta 92mm High Flow fan (110 cfm!). I am now running a Barton 2500 on an NF-7S @ 235 X 10 with CPU temps @ 33-35 idle and 38-40 load. System temps never get above 25. I have some really good RAM to back this up, but is this a common thing for this setup or should I be extremely happy?

470MHz FBS on a chip that's clocked @ 333MHz seems insane. On air cooling that is. Is there any other aspect too look at to get more of an increase? I would love to hit 500MHz. Memory timings have all ready been relaxed to 2-4-4-11 on Corsair XMS memory. Is 2v possible on an XP chip.

I guess what I'm saying is where can I go from here...with what I've got.

I would venture to say 38-40 load is pretty good. I have the same setup as you, but an 80mm fan. My load temps are sitting right at 50. But I have been running about 1.7-1.8 Vcore. I have seen others go 2v and above on an XP chip.

With the temps you are getting, I would say crank that baby up and keep an eye on those temps. You should be able to get higher than 235x10 as well.

Oh and by the way

Welcome to the Forums!!

Those temps indeed are looking good. If you havent done the L12 ping mod, you may have to to get higher FSB. I too have seen many people go up to and above 2.0v on an XP chip. Again, keep an eye on those temps!

2.0v is about as far as I'd go on air..... people going above that are usually on water or some other type of cooling. and if that's a desktop barton, you're doing good. I have one that will go just under 2.4Ghz but I don't like giving it so much voltage so I run it at stock in another system.
