2800+ Newcastles just kick the booty, check it

Seen alot of 2800+ NC owners getting this kind of OC on NF3 250 boards, dunno about K8T800 Pro boards tho. Tried to push it a little farther, but it crapped out halfway thru 3DMark2K3. at 2507, it ran for 16 hours in Prime95 without a problem, 1.6v in the bios, 278x9. Thinking about raising the core voltage to 1.65 or so and seeing what happens, but even at 2.5Ghz, this processor was a steal.

Here's a screen after running Prime95 for about an hour or so. The temp is listed on the Nvidia System Utility.

Those are some very good temperatures, but I thought that the Neo had problems reporting the temperatures accurately.

Woot 2800's are the bomb. I'm betting you're crapping not because of CPU but chipset (and maybe just MSI:P). Up chipset voltage to 1.6-1.7 and try higher.

Wow that's a nice o/c for such a cheap chip. makes me wonder whether I should get one of those or a CH mobile.

Running the 1.43 beta bios, which is supposed to fix the CPU temp issue. Not completely sure that it has, but not having any problems, so I'm going to assume that it did.

I think the 1.43 beta bios fixes the temp problem, although I've heard varying stories on this, so I'm not positive.

After some driver tweaking in XP, I got 13,219 in 3DMark2K3. Was getting 10,955 at the stock 1.8GHz. Also, the 13,219 is running the GT at Ultra speeds.

I get very similar results with mine, check your HTT and set it down to 3x multi, I couldnt get 3dmark to finish at 4x htt (over 1000mhz) but it would prime for hours.

Yeah, you pretty much have to kick the HTT to 3x if you go over 250MHz FSB.

Here are my Sandra scores:

Hmm, those 2800+ look really nice- but I don't like the results, to be honest... I want m o r e

Actually, my aim is somewhere at 2.7GHz, watercooled, but with low voltage- and I think the 3200 or 3400 is better for that

I was able to hit 2655Mhz (295x9), and boot into Windows, but 3DMark2K3 would crap out by the 3rd or 4th test. I never raised the vcore past 1.6v, so I should probably try that and see what happens, maybe this weekend I'll have time to dink around with it some more. For now, 2.5GHz ain't nothin to sneeze at

I think mine could get to 2700mhz if the agp/pci locks worked on my kv8-pro. It will do 2600 with no vcore increase but the pci bus gets way out of wack.

Congrats on your OC. Yeah these Athlon64 2800+ are a steal. Mine can do 2610 Mhz stable but, Prime crashed after half an hour or so. At 2560 Mhz it's rock solid.
