When I bought my current video card, I thought that the suffix "XT" was a good thing :/

...but only for ATI I guess

So right now I have a crappy XFX 5600XT which was clocked even lower than the default 5600XT speeds.

Considering the low price of the card... I didnt even bother returning it

But right now Im looking for something new. I was looking at the 5700 Ultra and 5900XT (which is better ??)

Im looking for something around 300$ CAN (around $220 US). NVidia or ATI, I dont really care.

The 5900XT out performs the 5700 Ultra. It's also highly overclockable. I have an XFX 5900XT that I flashed to a 5900 Ultra. Stock speeds of the 5900XT's vary from 390-410+ Core and 700-800+ Mem. I overclocked my card to 450-Core and 850-Mem. Check this out: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/faq.html
It's full of great info that will help you decide.

Ati Radeon 9800 Pros are hovering at a little under $200 USD right now.

I'm not sure where to buy from since you are in Canada but my guess is that you could get a 9800 Pro, VGA Silencer Rev 3, and get it shipped to you for about $220. Thats a darn good setup for the money if you ask me :)

Flash the chip with 9800 XT bios and you have an even better deal!

Alright... so 5900XT or ATi 9800 Pro :D
I saw that PNY makes a 5900SE card, is it better or worst than a XT ??

a 5900SE is the same as an XT..... However, the 9800pro outperforms any 5900. Go and get a 5900XT only if you can't get access to a 9800pro for the same price.

get that 9800pro and overclock the @#$% out of it..... you'll be rocking the good games in no time.... my 9800pro is flashed to a real xt and I can benchmark Doom 3 at over 45fps. Best midrange card on the market.
