I was working on my mom's old gateway that has an intel D845PT mobo when i read that i needed to update the BIOS in order to be able to install the new processor i was planning on getting for it. so i headed over to the intel site and found the BIOS i need for the board. the BIOS update was version PT84510A.86A.0030.P08. i chose the "intel express bios update" because i thought it would be easy. everything goes to plan, but when it POSTed, i got "CMOS/GPNV Checksum Bad" error. i was somehow able to get windows to load and get to the desktop. before the icons loaded, a little box came up saying the bios update was unsuccessful and to read the readme for troubleshooting. the readme did not help me very much. i went back to the intel website and read that i should make a recovery disk using the intel iflash bios update. i followed the directions word for word. i was told to read the license.txt file but i could not find it, so i skipped ahead and inserted the formatted floppy. then it said to double click the RUN.BAT file. i again could not find that, but i did find AUTOEXEC, which is a batch file. i clicked it and a DOS screen came up. The screen has been up ever since, hanging at "C:\blah\blah\blah>iflash". it has hanged there for about an hour now. I am not sure if i did anything wrong, but i am getting very frustrated because i need to fix this before i leave friday. is there any way that i could go fix this problem without a recovery disk? i realize this is an old mobo, but if anyone can help me, i would greatly appreciate it.
