Do I have a 9800Pro or 9800XT???

Hi

I bought the GeCube 9800 Pro Platinum Edition 128M two weeks ago. It has the R360 core, and Windows detected it as a 9800XT.

I installed catalyst 4.7,and it shows up as an 9800XT, and I can enable overdrive and temp monitoring is displayed.

So I am wondering if the 9800XT bios was already loaded????

The default core/memory is 398M/351M(700M). I have OC'd to 432/385(750)without artefacting. Can someone advise what the XT core/memory speed is????

These are the details in ATI Control Panel under Adapter:

Chip Type: RADEON 9800XT AGP (0x4E4A)
Adaptrer String: RADEON 9800XT
BIOS Information: BK-ATI VER008.015.102.000

Welcome to the forums! The XT's core/memory speed is 412/730 compared to the Pro at 380/680 as per:

Sounds like you have a Pro. Not sure why it shows up as an XT.

Perhaps it's a return?

Maybe someone tried a flash, and thought they fubared it, so they returned it and you ended up getting it. Just a thought.

actually gecube does make a 9800xt 128mb version. it has the same core / mem speeds you are stating on your video card. you can check out rage3d.com forums for info on the gecube 9800xt bios that has overdrive.

i'm currently using it on my sapphire card no problems

exactly.... it is an xt which is toned down to pro speeds.... there is a version of the same bios at rage3d that brings those speeds back up to stock xt speeds. everything else about the card is an xt with 128mb of ram.

Also the pro does NOT have temp monitoring capabilities. So it sounds like a hybrid.
